OWN drama David Makes Man to Shoot in Orlando

Orlando Economic Partnership announced it has been courting and has successfully attracted The Oprah Winfrey Network's (OWN) drama series David Makes Man to produce in Orlando. The show is currently in pre-production at Universal Studios. Universal Studios Florida Production Group Vice President and General Manager Pamela Tuscany said in a released statement that the production will be supported by two soundstages that are 16,500 square foot each as well as back lot facilities to foster the creative planned for the project.

Director/Producer and Orlando resident Wayne Morris will lead the project and intends to have local crew hiring and area business benefit from the production's footprint in Central Florida.

The new drama series will revolve around a 14-year-old prodigy from the projects who is haunted by the death of his closest friend. The boy relies on his hardworking mother to find a path out of poverty. The series is written by Tarell Alvin McCraney. McCraney is an Academy Award winning co-writer of Moonlight. Warner Horizon Scripted Television is the production company. Executive Producers for the show include: McCraney, Michael B. Jordan, and Oprah Winfrey.  The show, now in pre-production, is set to shoot in Orlando this summer through the end of this year. David Makes Man is scheduled to air in 2019 on the OWN Network.
